All these years…

Yesterday we all went to the well-known RWTH in Aachen to attend the final presentation of our joint project “woobby mobile” at the chair “i5” (Information Systems Chair). Stefan, Martin, Ognyana, Mario and Jian had prepared a presentation incl. a live show on an iPhone and an iPod touch and what we saw was really really excellent work!

During the last semester the team took the existing woobby web platform, selected a reduced set of “mobile functionalities” and developed a prototype based on PHP and connected it - for the time being - to a copy of the woobby.com database. To “make the rankings mobile” the horizontal way of creating personal rankings was turned vertical and the design and buttons were adapted to a much smaller iPhone touch screen.

All in all, the prototype is already quite close to what could be a first version of woobby mobile! Well done, woobby mobile Team!

I’d like to quote the slogan from an old company poster from 1999 from our former employer Cluster Consulting: Everything that can be mobile will be mobile.

The questions is <strike>how</strike> when?

Thanks a lot also to Dr. Ralf Klamma and Anna Glukhova from i5 and to Andreas who told us about this opportunity (and also had a short prez yesterday).
